About
Dr. Julia Carroll is a Senior Lecturer in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, specializing in structural engineering. She worked as a bridge engineer for several years before returning to academia to pursue her PhD. Her previous work has included research in topology optimization, structural health monitoring, sustainability, and engineering education. She is passionate about increasing the diversity pipeline in STEM via K-12 outreach, mentoring and advocating for underrepresented students in higher education, and using her engineering skills to improve equity in the built environment.
