Tom Gerbino holds degrees from Mansfield University and Ithaca College and is the founder of the successful “A Touch of Woodwinds” Chamber Ensemble. A Woodwind instructor at SUNY Schenectady, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Union College, Tom previously had been an instructor at Russell Sage College, Ithaca College, The College of Saint Rose, Skidmore College, and SUNY Cortland. Performing with the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra as Principal Clarinet, he frequently appears with the Catskill, Utica and Clinton Symphony Orchestra. His various ensembles (Classical and Jazz) have entertained at many Adult Communities in the area, including Coburg Village, Beverwyck and the Massry. Tom is regularly active professionally as the Conductor of the Gloversville Civic Band, performing with Glens Falls Concert/Jazz Band, North Country Jazz Project Band and the Johnstown Citizens’ Band. He has performed a variety of woodwind instruments with Broadway Touring Company shows at Proctors Theatre, including “Frozen”, “Wicked” and “Phantom of the Opera”, as well as many Community and High School Musicals. Most recently being involved with the recording session “Hail! Cheer Old R.P.I.!” on December 17, 2019 playing Alto/Tenor Saxophone. His recordings include work with the Adirondack Saxophone Quartet, Empire Jazz Orchestra, Empire State Youth Orchestra Flute Choir, Joey Thomas Big Band, New York State Theatre Institute, First Reformed Church Chamber Vespers, and the Capital City String Quartet. Tom has a Television appearance performing Clarinet with the Orchestra for the HBO series “The Guilded Age” in January - May 2022.
