About

Dr. Bhaduri earned his Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree with honors in Civil engineering from the Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology (IIEST) at Shibpur, India, in 2014. He also earned a Master of Technology (M.Tech.) degree in Civil engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K) in 2016. Following a brief stint as a project associate at IIT-K, he joined the research group led by Dr. Mohammed Alnaggar at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) to pursue a doctorate in Civil engineering. He joined the RPI faculty as a lecturer after completing his Ph.D. in December 2021. He has experience in teaching core engineering courses like Introduction to Engineering Design and Engineering Economics.

His research expertise is in the computational modeling of concrete class materials in fresh and hardened states. His doctoral research demonstrated the dependency of critical failure modes of reinforced ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) beams on the mechanics of interplay between continuous and discrete reinforcements. Furthermore, he evaluated the adequacy of a novel multi-scaling technique for the numerical simulation of UHPC. He also numerically predicted flow-induced fiber anisotropy for a novel flow-based casting process and numerically validated its impact on the mechanical properties and failure behavior of UHPC in the solid hardened state. He is also interested in applying smart systems for structural health monitoring and vibration control. Previously, he numerically investigated the seismic performance of different structural bracing arrangements and control algorithms with smart magnetorheological fluid dampers during his tenure at IIT-K.
